Did you know that the biggest thing to consider when you are looking for a mate is you?
That’s right. The best way to find a partner is to know yourself as best you can. What are your likes? What are your dislikes? What about yourself would you change if you could? And what are your life goals? There are a great many things to consider before getting out into the dating pool. But it all starts with you!
What is your goal in a relationship? Are you looking to be married, or stay partners? Are you wanting traditional roles, or would you like for both of you to work outside the home and have business goals? Questions such as these should be thought about as you look for your ideal mate. Having an idea of what your expectations are can be a great help in finding the one you think is right. Plus it will help the other person to know so they can decide as well.
What personality traits do you have?
Are you perhaps an extrovert that enjoys lots of time with friends? Or an introvert that loves the idea of staying in with a good book or TV series? Whatever your preference, it is good to know what you like and how you feel about things. This will help you find out and better help someone get to know you as well. How do you behave when someone does something wrong to you? Or when someone hurts your feelings? All of this will help you know who you are in your relationship as well.
What are your flaws?
Though many of us don’t’ much care to dig into our flaws, it helps to do some self-examination. What things set us off? Knowing what we wish to work on about ourselves can be helpful as well. Sometimes we look to others and admire traits they have because we don’t have those traits ourselves. This doesn’t mean that we will rely on our partner to carry the weight of the trait we don’t have, rather, their displaying the trait makes you want to try harder and work on yourself. It is an encouragement. Finding our flaws can be a great way to realize what we want to work on, and better ourselves.
Putting yourself out there into the dating world can be intimidating, but knowing who you are and what you want, can make the process easier and much more enjoyable. Get to know yourself, and see what you learn about yourself.
